🐣 Brand NEW Challenge Workshop: Foil Friends is Now OPEN for Enrollment!
Published about 1 month ago • 2 min read
Hello Reader,
I’m excited to announce a
brand-new Challenge Workshop!
I'm calling it "Foil Friends."
Foil Friends - Reference Photo
Foil Friends – a playful and practical still life challenge designed to help you confidently render shiny foil surfaces, reflective color shifts, and layered textures using colored pencil (with optional solvent).
Foil Friends
Exploring Metallic Reflections, Color Shifts, and Texture with Colored Pencil
In this workshop, we’ll take on the fascinating challenge of drawing foil-wrapped surfaces—those shiny textures where colors bounce, shift, and reflect in surprising ways.
You’ll notice subtle transitions moving from cooler greens into warmer yellows and oranges, along with pockets of reflected light that make foil look luminous and dimensional.
Working step-by-step together, you’ll learn how to observe and recreate these reflective transitions so the surface feels convincing and full of life.
And the best part is that these same techniques translate beautifully to other subjects like metal objects, reflective packaging, satin, glass, and other light-sensitive surfaces.
