This week, I'm sharing a fast time-lapse. I'm drawing a portrait of a fair-skinned model on UART 800 Grit Sanded Paper.

I generally start with muted hues for broad areas, gradually moving to details and more bright, saturated colors.

I used a variety of pinks, yellows, muted reds, blues, and purples to create light but warm skin tones. I make an effort to steer clear of colors like brown, black, and gray whenever I can.

I also used a "No. 2 Flat" sofft knife by PanPastels, with the micro sponge. When working dry, it's excellent for pushing pencil pigment into the paper's grooves. I also used some Gamsol by Gamblin solvent but applied it with a paintbrush to move the pigment when wet.

Enjoy!
